We all know that Diwali is a biggest and brightest Indian Hindu festival. The word Diwali meaning “festival of lights” springs from the original Sanskrit word “Deepavali” which means a row or series of lights. Deepawali or Diwali is a festival of lights symbolizing the victory of righteousness, triumph of good over evil, truth over falsities and the lifting of spiritual darkness. It is celebrated on the 15th day of Kartika, according to the Hindu calendar. This festival commemorates Lord Rama’s return to his kingdom Ayodhya after completing his 14-year exile. That night, his people lit up their houses with earthen lamps to illuminate his way home and set off fireworks to welcome home their beloved king. Different colorful varieties of fireworks are always associated with this festival. On this auspicious day, people light up diyas and candles all around their house. They perform Laxmi Puja in the evening and seek divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. Some believe that Lakshmi wanders the Earth looking for homes where she will be welcomed.
